i mentioned this to a few folks after the natoma gig a few weeks ago, but
tomorrow night a guy named ben neill is opening for supreme beings of
leisure at bimbo's 365 club. ("leisure" rhymes with "pleasure" if you're an
expat, by the way)

ben plays on an instrument he's dubbed the "mutanttrumpet", which is a
trumpet with 3 bells, 6 valves, and a metric fuckload of midi switches and
controllers. he plays on it like a trumpet and also uses it to control
samples and loops, and supposedly even a light show?? sounds like a freak,
so of course i'm going. his music is pretty crazy, very listen-able and
maybe even dance-able, so it's not _all_ about the geek factor.

as for the pleasure leisure crew, i don't know much. i've heard a few mp3's
and they sound great, but fucked if i can describe them.

the gig's $15, and doors open at 7. the only other time i've been to
bimbo's it was sold out like crazy for zero 7, and i managed to get there
super early and grab a table, which was the right way to go for that kind of
music. i'm up for doing that again, though i don't know how busy this will
be. alon's coming, maybe my friend ben, and if anyone else is interested
let me know.
