Hi folks,

Since we've frozen shows as a result of losing our warehouse
(but stay tuned, I think we're going to have one last going
away event in July -- hopefully something special...), I
thought you might be jonesing for the kind of thing we do
here at 964 -- so I hope you don't mind my forwarding info on
the following new sound series, which I flatter myself is in
some way inspired by my own Field Effects series... it's this
weekend, and if you miss our beanbags, you might be happy to
hear that they'll be in residence at the Shoe Department! :)
Sadly we're off to a wedding ourselves this weekend -- but I
hope to see you at the next one!

As always, let me know if you'd like off this list... and til
we meet sometime soon, best regards -- aaron

Subject: PAUSE

Hello all,

Just a gentle reminder of the event we're having here at the old Sears
Building. As you may recall, this time, along with Nicole Dreyfus'
paintings from last month's show, there will be sound artists from the
Bay Area performing their more recent work. The event is called Pause
and all the information is on the invite. Hope to see you there. Rumor
has it that this loft was once the Shoe department at Sears so we have
coined the space The Shoe Dept. A contribution from an extremely kind
and generous friend will include bean bags and chai. As usual, you and
yours are always welcome.

Here are the details:

PAUSE an evening of sound

May 28, 2004 :: doors 8 00 :: sound 9 00 ::

at:

The Shoe Dept. 3435 Cesar Chavez (at Valencia)
  ph: 415 695 7748

Presenting the works (sounds and environments) of:

  The Kallikak Family (http://www.tellallrecords.com/kallikak.shtml)
  MANTA (http://www.marriagerecs.com)
  D M.Zohrob (http://www.tellallrecords.com/zohrob.shtml) / J M.Perez

Pause is an attempt to create an ideal space for sound in an intimate
setting; to present the subtle and the unusual, the left and the
lowercase as an immersive space.

"The purpose of music is to sober and quiet the mind, thus making it
susceptible to divine influences."
