Hi folks!
San Francisco's Party went surprisingly well. We basically had three
people organize a party from scratch in three months! Many thanks to
Susmita Mohanty of MoonFront, who handled our public relations. A
real huge thanks goes to Robert Greenleaf of NEKID Productions, whose
untiring efforts to sell tickets and coordinate DJs, and deal with
the venue managers was exceptional.
Thanks also goes out to the exhibitors who educated the partiers and
stayed until midnight to have a toast to Yuri Gagarin. They included:
Difinity, JP Aerospace, Lunar Traders, International Space
University, Mars Society, Space Frontier Foundation, Chabot Space and
Science Center, Space.com, Space Adventures, The Exploratorium, and
XCOR Aerospace.
Finally, many thanks to Devin Harris and JD for designing a beautiful poster.
All told, we had nearly 1,100 people attend Yuri's Night. Twenty
(20!!!) DJs scratched the tunes in four different themed rooms from
10pm to 4am. The weather was unusually mild for San Francisco, and
Kelly's Mission Rock, the venue, gave us a spectacular view of the
Bay and ships sailing by. The sky was clear and stars shone extra
bright.
I just got the party photos developed and put on a CD-ROM. I'll get
them up on the YuriDrive within a few days. http://yuri.unsgac.org/
It's time to recover and plan for the future!
