Well, OK, it's Nob Hill.

As many of you know, I'm on an energy-efficiency-ranting roll right now.
Going to this rally (Ralph Nader's "People have the Power Tour" ) will
give me the glimmer of hope I need so very much after the PG&E fiaco and
the WTC tragedy (not to mention the f*!xx*g presidential election) It's
on a Thursday night, so that's our supposed Squishy pub-night (though
that's been a bit slow in getting going).

Can I entice any of you to join me with the promise of fruity drinks at
the Tongo Room afterwards??  Rainstorms, Mai Tais and Hurricanes,
anyone?

Two things will happen at the November 6, 2001 election:
<ul>
<li>Voters will decide whether to approve the public power initiative, <a href="http://www.sfbmud.org" target=new>Proposition I</a>.
<li>Voters will also elect a 5-member Board of Directors to set up the new <a href="http://www.sfbmud.org/what_why.html" target=new>Municipal Utility District</a> (MUD).
</ul>
It's a citywide election, meaning that residents of San Francisco and Brisbane will vote for one candidate in each of five districts. Medea is running for Ward 4. Read <a href="biography.shtml">more about Medea Benjamin</a>.

COME TO THE HISTORIC NADER SOLAR/PUBLIC POWER "SUPER RALLY" ON OCTOBER 11TH, 2001

On October 11th, Ralph Nader's "People Have the Power Tour" will have a Super Rally at the San Francisco Mason Center. Nader is coming to help lead the San Francisco solar/public power campaign (MUD) to victory, bring thousands of progressive people together, and to be a strong voice for global justic and peace. Nader recognizes that the solar and public power campaigns are citizen activism at their best, and wants to do everything in his power to make them prevail. 

Event info:

* Doors open at 5:00pm, rally starts at 7:30pm

* The rally will feature appearances by national entertainers, activist-celebrities, and community leaders (similar to the Oakland Super Rally last year).

* 50+ Bay Are organizations will be tabling. For more information, call (415) 864-6078.

Only with your support can we fill the SF Masonic Center, win the public power campaign, and launch a progressive movement across the country.

To make this rally a huge success, we need hundreds of volunteers to lend their time and energy to this project. We will have rally volunteer meetings every Thursday, from 6:00-9:00, starting September 13th, at the Green Party office at 1910 Mission St., with free pizza and beverages.

If you can't make it, call or stop by the SF Green Party office any time between 9:00am and 9:00pm, seven days a week, to volunteer for the rally.
