so yesterday i ended up going to a random doctor at cal pacific. since =
it was my first visit there they had to ask all the "lifestyle" =
questions. we had an exchange that went something like this:

doc: do you smoke?
me: no.
doc: drugs?
me: is this confidential?
doc: absolutely.
me. ok, sure.
doc: which drugs?
me: ecstasy, sometimes...
doc: no marijuana?
me: oh yeah. that too.
doc: hmm... as a doctor, i should tell you that ecstasy is really bad.
me: [nodding] ok. why, in your professional opinion?=20
doc: well... um... it's an... opiate.. and it... uh...
me: um. no it's not.
doc: [blank stare]
me: it's not an opiate. it's an amphetamine. it blocks the re-uptake =
of serotonin in the brain.
doc: ah. yes. well, see... that, uh, can lead to what we call =
"serotonin syndrome" which has symptoms such as muscle contraction, =
restlessness, euphoria, high body temperature, fast heartbeat, mental =
status changes...
me: i see.
doc: hmm... i guess that's why people take it.
me: i would guess so.
doc: but it's dangerous.
me: i see.
doc: i might go read more about it.
me. let me know if you find anything interesting.
doc: i'll do that.

the search continues...
