[Squishy] A question.....

ah, the age-old question, "what is squishy?"

although i hesitate to strictly define a word so personal, so profoundly
intimate, i can tell you what i think squishy means to me, and leave you to
your own interpretation.

squish·y   (skwsh-ee)   adj.
  1.. Soft and wet; spongy.
  2.. Sloppily sentimental.

i think webster's definition, although accurate, doesn't quite reflect the
depth of squishy.  yes, you can exclaim, "my, that's squishy!" when sticking
your hand into the innards of a pumpkin, and i'm sure many of us can
remember evenings or moments that verge on sentimental which can only be
defined as "squishy", perhaps with the assistance of squish-enhancing
substances.

but i believe one's true squishiness can only be found within.  within what,
you ask?  perhaps in yourself.   perhaps in a martini glass.   in a fake fur
coat and giant sunglasses in the park on a hot summer's day.  in that moment
your heart skips a beat as you catch the eyes of a stranger in the street.
in the silence between the notes of your favorite tune.

yes, my friends, squishy is only what you make it.  it's pure joy, lust,
exuberance, happiness, satisfaction, or simply an honest response from some
experience.  but you *must* embrace it in order for full effects.
recommended dosage is at least one squishy experience a day.  i leave it to
you to define these as such.

any thoughts?  what does "squishy" mean to you?
