tortoise logoWarranty Issues - Winnebago Alpine Ser No 3414

The toilet leaks and has stained the carpet under the toilet and also in the living room area. This seems to happen only while the water pedal is pressed but, as a precaution, we have adopted the practice of emptying the bowl completely by holding the valve open a fraction while the bowl drains completely. This has minimised the leakage
To be referred to Winnebago IndustriesThe rear window leaks during heavy rain. The emergency exit sign is now damaged and should be replaced
To be referred to Winnebago IndustriesThe alarm system does not work. Secure mode cannot be selected and the doors don't lock. The reversing warning seems to be affected as it signals an obstruction with a continuous tone whenever reverse gear is selected
Repaired by Tynan Recreational VehiclesThe grey and black tank monitors show 2/3 full even when empty. I have flushed the black water tank thoroughly and repeatedly with limited success
To be referred to Winnebago IndustriesThe VCR won't replay or record
Repaired by Tynan Recreational VehiclesThe TV won't work on 12V
To be referred to Winnebago IndustriesThe mattress retainer board on the cab-over bed is not as secure as one would like. I have added some larger screws as a temporary safety precaution
To be referred to Winnebago IndustriesSome of the dress nails are loose or damaged
To be referred to Winnebago IndustriesTwo of the lenses on the larger light fittings are stained brown in the centre
Repaired by Tynan Recreational VehiclesThe seal on the engine cover is damaged
To be referred to Winnebago IndustriesThere is no user manual for the toilet
Repaired by Tynan Recreational VehiclesThe blue dump hose has some leaks
To be referred to Winnebago IndustriesThe hose from the engine air intake to the air filter box is too short. It should be fitted so that rain entering the intake drains outwards rather than into the filter box. (Note that this had happened to another Winnebago T4600 we met on the road.)
To be referred to Winnebago IndustriesThere were no valve extensions on the inside rear wheels. I had a pair fitted by a Bridgestone dealer, at a cost of $24, when I called in for a tyre pressure check
To be attended to by Tynan Recreational VehiclesThe height of the steps on the ladder is awkward. We have seen a photograph in a magazine which shows a ladder with the steps a few inches higher than on our ladder and this would probably be more suitable for us as we both have short legs
To be referred to Winnebago IndustriesThere are chips in the paintwork on the oven door
To be referred to Winnebago IndustriesThe fridge would not maintain temperature in the hot weather we experienced in Adelaide. I have fitted a fan above the condenser, at a cost of $52, but we have not experienced the same high temperatures since so I don't know if this worked. I have been advised by an Electrolux representative that the airflow over the condenser is critical and that fitting a fan is the first thing to try. In the light of this, I would have expected a fan to be fitted when the fridge was installed
To be referred to Winnebago Industries Other items I have corrected but which I wish to bring to your attentio.

I had to make a grey water drain hose to allow the use of drainage points commonly available at caravan parks. I feel that, as there are no suitable fittings in the caravan accessory shops and as most Winnebago owners would not be able to make one, it would be far better for the vehicle to come with one fitted
To be referred to Winnebago IndustriesI had to refit the venetian blind retainers in the bathroom
To be referred to Winnebago IndustriesI had occasion to inspect the wiring to the water heater. I found all the electrical joints were simply twisted bare wires with insulating tape over. I have replaced these with crimp connectors. I suspect that I will find other wiring which requires the same treatment
