tortoise logoWarranty Repairs - Winnebago Alpine Ser No 3414

The toilet leaks and has stained the carpet under the toilet and also in the living room area. This seems to happen only while the water pedal is pressed but, as a precaution, we have adopted the practice of emptying the bowl completely by holding the valve open a fraction while the bowl drains completely. This has minimised the leakage
    Repaired

The rear window leaks during heavy rain. The emergency exit sign is now damaged and should be replaced
    Repaired

  1. The grey and black tank monitors show 2/3 full even when empty. I have flushed the black water tank thoroughly and repeatedly with limited success
The advice is to drain the tanks, half fill them with water and detergent, drive the vehicle around then drain and flush the tanks

  2. The TV won't work on 12V
    Repaired

  3. The mattress retainer board on the cab-over bed is not as secure as one would like. I have added some larger screws as a temporary safety precaution
    Repaired

  4. Some of the dress nails are loose or damaged
    Repaired

  5. The seal on the engine cover is damaged
    Referred to Tynan Recreational Vehicles

  6. The blue dump hose has some leaks
    Replaced

  7. The hose from the engine air intake to the air filter box is too short. It should be fitted so that rain entering the intake drains outwards rather than into the filter box. (Note that this had happened to another Winnebago T4600 we met on the road.)
Repaired by hitching the existing hose with a cable tie creating a bit of a kink rather than by replacing it with a longer hose.

  8. The height of the steps on the ladder is awkward. We have seen a photograph in a magazine which shows a ladder with the steps a few inches higher than on our ladder and this would probably be more suitable for us as we both have short legs
    No rectification offered

  9. There are chips in the paintwork on the oven door
No rectification offered. This has since been rectified by me

  10. The fridge would not maintain temperature in the hot weather we experienced in Adelaide.
No rectification offered. Winnebago claim that the installation has been approved by Electrolux. I have fitted a fan above the condenser, at a cost of $52, but we have not experienced the same high temperatures since so I don't know if this worked. I have been advised by an Electrolux representative that the airflow over the condenser is critical and that fitting a fan is the first thing to try. In the light of this, I would have expected a fan to be fitted when the fridge was installed
