Friday 1st

We had to call into the Mazda service place to have a small oil leak rectified.

We had arranged to visit the Procters over the weekend so we headed north. I decided to investigate a well known rest area in Petrie so we drove up the back road to Strathpine and stopped for morning tea at Petrie.

The rest area deserves its reputation. It is large, flat, has lots of trees , picnic shelters and barbecues in addition to the toilet block complete with dump station. There is a 2 night limit but that's OK.

We stopped for lunch at the Ginger Factory and shopped for ginger things before we went on to Carters Ridge. The welcome there was as warm as ever and we were congratulated for our unopposed election to the posts of Secretary (me) and Treasurer (Jean) of the Highway Wanderers. Its only for two years but I wonder if we will regret the decision to take on the work. I hope not.

Saturday 2nd

Philip and Helene had arranged to sell some surplus stuff at a local market so they went off before dawn. they had left the car for us to go shopping or whatever so we went to the market after breakfast.

We spent half an hour at the garage sale and went on to Cooroy to shop for the makings for Sunday dinner.

Sunday 3rd

Jean and Helene went out early to visit the market at Imbil and spent up big ($3!).

Robert and Marjorie from Blueprint came to stay and in the evening we all had curry and rice for dinner.

Monday 4th

George and Jan Reed were coming for a short visit.

Helene had decided that the stone fruit trees had to come out to make another motorhome parking space so we all worked like navvies for most of the day. In honour of the good work we did ridding the area of tree roots, the new space is officially called "No Root Ridge".

When the Reed's arrived, we had a barbecue tea which went on well into the evening. The weather had threatened rain and we spent a few minutes under umbrellas but the moon and stars finally came out so we enjoyed the last traces of summer.

Tuesday 5th

I found a leak in the plumbing in the Motley's kitchen cupboards so I had plenty to do. In fact, the work went on well into the evening before I got the better of it.

Jean spent the day catching up on her sewing modifying some new clothes she had bought.
