We shopped in Boulia and then drove north to Dajarra, a little town half way between Boulia and Mt Isa.

There were a number of camping spots listed along this road but only one was real. The others were just little loop roads off the main road with no facilities and no space to park more than one vehicle.

Dajarra is a pleasant little town. There is the old railway station building commemorating the time when the railway line came to Dajarra and all the cattle west of here were driven to the railhead to be loaded onto trains for transport to the coast.

The town has constructed a camping area with a park, toilets, water and power for those who are willing to pay $10/night. That's OK by us as we can camp free using our stored solar power.

Jean was a little worried by the high proportion of 1st wave immigrants in the town and was pleasantly surprised that there was no noise, much less any trouble overnight. I noticed that there were no people lying about in the streets or in the park and reckoned that this is a strong community which doesn't allow bad behaviour by its people.
