We set off again to the west. I was not looking forward to this section of the journey as I remembered the road was particularly bad with stretches of gravel. My memory had let me down and I had forgotten that there is an account of this road in an earlier entry. In the event I was pleasantly surprised and we reached Camooweal in time for lunch. We ate a hearty, well hot and probably wholesome, meal in the pub and filled up with diesel to avoid having to pay exorbitant rates at Barkly Roadhouse as we did last time we came this way.

With plenty of the afternoon left, we drove past Avon Downs to the Soudan Rest Area where we had a pleasant happy hour with a couple from Albury who are doing an inland trip to Alice Springs and beyond.

Another early night allowed us to catch up on some sleep.
