We left early heading for Denham and Monkey Mia. On the way we visited Hamlin Pool which is one of the two places in the world where one can see living stromatolites. These are rocky things built by cyanobacteria over many thousands of years. They are important because they represent the earliest living things on earth and fossil remains from 3.5 billion years ago can be found in the Pilbara (though the location seems to be a secret).

We went to the Tourist Information Centre and discovered that we could stay in town in a caravan park with power cheaper that staying at the Monkey Mia caravan park without power.

We had lunch in town and drove to Monkey Mia in the Little Motley. Because we were late arrivals our passes are good for tomorrow as well today and we were advised to visit early (8 am!) to see the dolphins. We drove back to town, did some shopping, arranged a late check out from the caravan park and settled in for a restful afternoon and evening.
