We had promised to visit with Joy to celebrate both Jean's and Joy's birthdays. We decided to spend a couple of days so we booked into the caravan park in McLaren Vale.

We were entertained to lunch in the Middle Pub in Willunga on Tuesday. Joy's computer had come back from the PC service guys having been "updated", "cleaned-up", and prepared for connection to the internet as a birthday present from her step brother. I wasn't able to make it access the email server because the password had been installed by the tech and, as reported verbally, wouldn't work.

On Wednesday, some friends of Joy's from nearby came over for a barbecue lunch and Don, a self-taught PC user, loaded up some more up-to-date software. We tried to access the email service with no success until someone suggested using the uppercase version of the reported password!.

I spent some time tutoring Joy in the use of the browser and the email program. I was able to get her to send me a message at my server, show her the message on my machine, send her a reply, and have her retrieve it from the server. She is very hesitant about it all but she made some notes for herself and I think she'll succeed.
