Our last site for survey was Mt Eccles National Park so we set off in that direction. We checked out the campsites and found all but one were definitely little rigs only. The only reasonable size site didn't have enough level ground for two medium sized motorhomes so we drove up to the carpark and had lunch overlooking Lake Surprise.

As all the other sights in this volcanic crater were lengthy walks from the carpark and as the temperature was by now well over 30°C we decided to leave them until another time and headed for the nearest big rig friendly camp site at Fitzroy River and settled in for the night. This was supposed to be a really quiet spot but the cows, dogs, and donkeys kept up a racket until quite late and started again quite early in the morning.
