Sunday 13th

I had a quiet day. I can't remember exactly what I did.

Monday 14th

For a change I slept in till 9.30.

I booked the man to come and remove the old rain water this week and arranged for the plumber to come to do the new pipework. He can't come until after we return from Sydney.

I received some more data for the dump point list and spent some time completing the list and doing some analysis.

The new issue of Choice arrived. It included a survey of fridges. I bought our fridge by asking Retravision if they could match The Good Guys price for a 300 l upside down fridge. The offered me a Samsung and I accepted. The Choice survey rates it "best buy". It ranks near the top of the list in every measure of performance. Serendipity must be alive and well in Barraba.

I realised that I needed to remove the shrubs which are growing on the old tank stand. This turned out to he enough physical labour for the whole day but it is now ready for the attack of the monster machines which will take the old tanks away.

I spent the rest of the day working on the dump point list.

Wednesday 16th

I arranged for Tony to take some garden refuse to the tip. He asked to do the job at the weekend because the tip hours make it easier then. I moved the remains of the shrubs which had grown on the old tank stand to the heap to get them out of the way of the tank removal machinery.

I worked on the bathroom. I got the bath off its mounting and lined it up ready to be carried out when In get some assistance. I had to remove the hand basin to make room for the bath to come out so we will have to use the laundry sink or the Motley until the plumber does his thing.

I finished the checking of the dump point list and did some analysis which led to some pruning. This didn't change the list of public dump points in any significant way.

I found time to do some more Self-containment Inspector tests.

Thursday 17th

I found a way of getting the bath out of the bathroom and into the back yard without calling for help. I will ask Keith to take it to the tip when he takes the old tanks.

I still have some work to do in the bathroom but at least the plumber can do his thing now.

I also moved the pump from inside the shed onto a new stand beside the tank. The level at the pump outlet is now equivalent to 5000 litres instead of 8500 litres. As I presently have over 6000 litres I believe that the problem with the pump running dry has been overcome at least until well into the next big drought. I am assuming that it will rain again in the not too distant future.

Friday 18th

Tony came and mowed the front lawn.

I worked indoors mast of the day doing some reconstruction on the Highway Wanderers website. People had reported that the last posting of pictures didn't work properly. I checked everything I could think of to no avail. I'll have to spend some time on line in Sydney where I can get a fast connection trying to find the problem.

In the evening, Keith came to talk about moving the old tanks. He said he'd do the job on Saturday or Sunday.

Saturday 19th

Tony came and mowed the back lawn. I had asked him to take the pile of garden clipping which had grown quite big to the tip. He took one load on the trailer and realised that it would take many trips that way so he said he'd borrow his Dad's truck and do it during the week.

I spent some time adjusting the pressure switches on the water pump to get better performance. I also tidied up some small jobs that needed doing.

Most of the day was devoted to tidying up files on the iBook.
