Friday 14th

We set off after breakfast planning to get all the way home today. The road wasn't the best so we took some time to get to Manilla where we stopped for lunch. We reached Barraba at about three o'clock.

The house was in perfect order, not even needing to be dusted. We parked the Motley out the front and unloaded all the clothes. I chatted to Bill across the road who said that there had been very little rain while we were away. This was disproved by rain water tank which had gained 4400 litres (1200 US gal) while we were away indicating a total rainfall of 40 mm in the seven weeks. The rain gauge only showed 10 mm which seems to show that it had been emptied sometime.

Elsie May, our next door neighbour came to welcome us home. She had seen us on the road up from Manilla. when she was out on her motorbike and had said to herself "There's the Motley, it's great to have them back".

We went to the RSL for dinner but didn't win an Easter Egg in the raffle.

We were really pleased to be home. The trip to Mt Gambier had proved to be a bit disappointing. The rally was less enjoyable than some probably because of the work I had to do but also because the happy hour was not as lively as usual.

We had both been less than 100% since the weather turned cold and the travelling had been a bit of a trial. I think that the roads have got worse over the years and I guess that our tolerance of discomfort has decreased as well.

We will probably to go to Queensland for the winter but, apart from that, I suspect that we will not travel very much this year.

Saturday 15th

Another day of moving stuff from the motley to the house. The afternoon was spent veging out.
