Sunday 18th

The frost was not quite so bad overnight but it was still a challenge to get out of bed.

I spent the day cooking and tidying up.

In the afternoon, we were able to sit out in the sun for an hour or so.

We had corned beef, carrots, mashed potatoes and vegetables for dinner followed by apple pie and frozen yoghurt. Sadly the corned beef didn't live up to the great claims of Barraba and Bingara beef but it was OK.

Monday 19th

We had a phone call from some Highway Wanderers who were passing through Barraba. They parked the big motorhome outside while we had a long chat over morning tea. They didn't take up offer of parking in the back yard because we would have to move the Motley so they went to the showground instead. The caretaker told them they could only stay one night because the present rules are that only groups of four or more motorhomes can stay longer than one night.

In the afternoon we all had afternoon tea at John and Vicki's with lots of chatting which was very pleasant.

In the evening, Jean and Vicki went to the book club. The appearance of the big, swish motorhome outside our place had been noticed and was remarked upon.

Tuesday 20th

It was overcast all night so we didn't have a frost.

We went to Tamworth to see the people at Centrelink. We wanted to know why we had had no response to our recent submissions regarding our assets. The answer was that our assessment hadn't changed. we were offered an interview with another person to find out exactly why this was so so. We were given a copy of our assessment so that we could check the details.

We did a bit of shopping. I found a new NSW Road Atlas to replace the one that I had all but destroyed with a leaking drink bottle. I also found a warm but cheap jumper and Jean found some shoes. We went to The Homestead for lunch and I downloaded some more software. We visited Woolworths to stock up on those groceries we cant buy in Barraba and set off for home at about three.

On the way home we had a couple of light showers of rain. We couldn't recall the last time we had had to drive in the wet. It rained overnight.

Wednesday 21st

Another night of rain so there was no frost again.

In order to get back some bench space, I had bought brackets for the microwave so I spent a little time putting them up. This took until lunchtime and afterwards I had to have a long rest.

I spent a fair amount of time working on the dump point database.

Thursday 22nd

I tried to get onto the net but couldn't get a workabl;e connection. I couldn't tell whether it was my modem or Telstra causing the problem.

Friday 23rd

I went to Tamworth by myself to buy some bookcases. I went to The Homestead to get a connection to the net. I tried the modem and had no trouble getting a connection which proved that the modem was not the cause of yesterdays problems. I use the wireless hot spot to do a bit of surfing while I had a coffee.

I went to Big W where I had bought the the first bookcase but they were out of stock. I found a knocked down filing cabinet and a pair of cheap camp chairs which I bought. I went to The Warehouse where I found what I was after. I bought four 3 ft by 3 ft bookcases. I had a young man from the store get a trolley and help me to load them into the Terios.

I got back to Barraba in time for lunch. I spent the afternoon putting the filing cabinet together.

In the evening, we went to the club for supper.

Saturday 24th

It rained a lot overnight and I found the water tank was overflowing. The overflow pipe had come adrift so I had to get the ladder out and fix it. I must have looked quite a sight in my trackies and my hooded poncho climbing the ladder in the rain.

In the afternoon I assembled the first bookcase. I will have to tidy up the dining room and move some furniture to make room for the four bookcases.
