Thursday 26th

We left Cooroy just before eleven o'clock and reached Lawnton jut before one. We went to the showground to find out if we could stay there but the show is on next week and only showies can stay there at the moment. We move on to Wyllie Park so that we could spend some time at Strathpine trying to fix my modem problem.

A young uni student in the Telstra shop was very helpful. He downloaded the Maxon software for me so I could check that it my version wasn't corrupted. I did the check over lunch and found no change in the behaviour of the modem. I went back to the Telstra shop and he offered me a replacement modem which didn't solve the problem. He then replaced the SIM card because he had seen some faulty cards. This didn't work either but he suggested that the Telstra database might need half an hour to get back on line.

When I got back to the Motley I still had the problem. I decided to try the modem on the G4 iBook to see if the problem was in the MacBook. I had some problems installing the software in the iBook and had to go back to the MacBook to retrieve the setup parameters. Suddenly the modem was working again. I do hate it when you fix a problem without understanding how you did it. However, having my connection alive again is a great relief.

I retrieved the 10 emails which had been sent since the thing failed and updated the Motley website. I still have to do some updates on the Highway Wanderers website and on the Eco-Camping Australia website but that will have to wait for some spare time.

Friday 26th

I needed to get some tasks done before the weekend so I set to work. A couple of motorhomers visited seeking advice on towing a car and the conversation took until nearly noon.

I got the jobs done, albeit with the odd go back and do that again, but they did get done.
