Monday 21st

It was foggy in the early morning but the day turned warm and a bit sunny so the rest of the laundry got done.

In the afternoon I put in a shift building the rangehood cupboard but didn't get to install it.

The ABC evening weather report mentioned Barraba because the temperature reached 30°C (86°F) which was hotter than anywhere else in New South Wales.

Tuesday 22nd

We were up early as we had to go to Tamworth for a doctor's appointment. I was dreading trying to park as the Country Music Festival is on and all reports have been that it is really hard to park during the festival. We arrived in Tamworth half an hour before the time of the appointment and found a parking space right outside the surgery. We waited until a few minutes after the appointed time. The doctor needed to check that all was well after the stent angioplasty. He was surprised to find me so well. I asked about the other stenoses which had been found in the angiogram. He said that as long as I keep my cholesterol in check and do all the right things I might no have any trouble with them even up to ten years from now. He said that he would keep an eye on me. I was well pleased with this prognosis and came away feeling "blooming marvellous".

We had to do some shopping so we drove around the roadblocks and went to the Shopping World Plaza, had a cup of coffee and went to Woolworths to stock up on the stuff we can't buy in Barraba. I planned to go to the Homestead Cafe but it was inside the "perimeter" so we headed towards home. Jean needed to buy some stuff at Spotlight and I had to go to Bunnings so I dropped her off, did my shopping at Bunnings, went back to Spotlight and picked her up.

We got back home just after two o'clock and had a late lunch.

I was too knackered to do any work on the kitchen but I did get out and mow the front lawn.

Wednesday 23rd

The day started out quite bright but as the day wore on the cloud cover came in and it was quite mild.

I took the opportunity to mow the rest of the lawn and found myself mowing in a light shower of rain. It all got done and looks well cared for. Sadly it will grow back to its most untidy while we are away as it won't get mowed again for about four weeks. I was very hot and sweaty and needed another shower.

In the evening, the weather cleared and we had a fine sunny end of the day.

Thursday 24th

The fine weather has come back which is pleasant but will also mean that the grass and weeds will grow fast.

I found a whole new supply of enthusiasm and energy so I spent most of the day finishing the installation of the rangehood. I looks like it was intended and now we won't have to put up with cooking smells in the house.

As we are planning to leave for Brisbane on Monday I will spend the next three days getting the Motley in order and loaded up. As we will be away for about a month I have to make sure we have everything we will need on board.

The renovation has turned out to be a very long project but we do make progress and one day it will all be complete. I had a Lions Dinner Meeting. I had to volunteer for BBQ duty on Saturday as no-one else put their hand up. We eventually got 6 on the roster. I had planned to work on setting up the Motley but losing a few hours from that shouldn't be a problem.

Friday 25th

We had to go to town to shop and drop off library books.

I took the Motley out to fuel up and to check to tyre inflation. The compressed air supply at the servo was much too weak to inflate the tyres, I fund that I was putting air into their system rather than taking it out. I tried to use the compressor which services the air helper springs on the Motley but it too was too weak. the tyre pressures are lower than the recommended pressure but they have run on this pressure in the past with no ill effects so I am not worried.

I spent most of the rest of the day moving stuff into the Motley. I still have to move all the clothes and all the food but I should be able to get that done without too much drama.

In the afternoon we had a visit from Elsie May, our next door neighbour. She is having to go to Melbourne to get a damaged knee attended to as the orthopaedic surgeon who originally treated her knee has left his practice in Tamworth to go elsewhere leaving the area with no orthopaedic surgeons. She could go to Sydney but she has family support in Melbourne so she prefers to go there. It makes the TV ads which show how far some of us have to travel for various kinds of medical treatment quite believable.

Saturday 26th

I participated in the Lions BBQ at the Australia Day celebration at the swimming pool. There were a lot less people there than last year so we will have to put the meat and bread in peoples' freezers to use them at the next opportunity. It was quite hot but we ran out of customers and knocked off at one o'clock.

In the afternoon I moved the Motley to the front again and loaded up all our clothes plus some sundry things I had found needed to be loaded.

Sunday 27th

I started the last of the loading right after breakfast. I got it all done by lunchtime.

In the afternoon I checked that we had everything and found a few more things to load.

We took Jean's tomato plants to the Samin's with a request to keep them watered and to eat all the tomatoes as they ripen.

I had had quite enough work for the day so I veged out in front of the TV.
