Transit from Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour. It rained a lot.
Just out of Port Macquarie, we saw a raptor just a few metres away hover and then stoop into the grass by the side of the road. We got a very good view of the undersides - all white or very pale cream. When he was on the ground, we got a very good view of his wings, head and back - pale grey with little or no marking. I believe it was a Grey Goshawk which is said to occur in this part of the country but is considered uncommon.
