photo of Lake Glenbawn We are making for Brisbane but we only have to be there for the first week in August so we left the highway to investigate a State Recreation Area called Lake Glenbawn. There is a caravan park there so we planned to spend the day and night there assuming it was a beautiful place.

The caravan park is in the shadow of the dam wall and just like a hundred other caravan parks so we didn't stop.

A little way on we took a diversion to a lookout passing a Red Fox and a mob of Eastern Grey Kangaroo. The road turned out to be very narrow and very steep but we finished up on top of a high bluff overlooking the most beautiful lake.

We whiled away an hour or two before heading back to the highway and on to Tamworth where we settled in for the night.
