Tuesday 5th

A we plan to leave Brisbane to visit the Kerrs in Ashby, we moved to Wyllie Park to avoid paying $11 for one day at Lawnton Showground.

Jean had an appointment with the podiatrist at lunchtime so we went to Kallangur to do the laundry before going to Aspley and Patricks Rd.

The Optician rang to say the new lenses were back and that I should take the glasses in to get the new lenses fitted. I dropped them in and hope they will be back by Friday. This means we can't leave Brisbane till the weekend.

I had my last didge lesson tonight. The course has been much more than I expected and we have been introduced to all of the basic techniques necessary to make good performances. The limiting factor has been practice. It needs from one to one and a half hours a day to develop all the techniques into automatic actions. I haven't put in that much time, nor have I practiced every day. However, I have a suitable base from which to work and given continued practice, I'm sure I will get there. It has been very worthwhile and one day I will feel able to play for other people.

Wednesday 6th

The Motley's house batteries have finally given up the ghost. I will have to replace them and I will take the opportunity to change the arrangement, losing the cranking batteries in favour of twice the capacity of house battery. Recently I started the diesel using the house battery because the cranking battery was dead so I know the system will work. I still have worries about having no reserve battery to start the generator when all else has failed and I might fit a motorcycle battery with some kind of protection device to solve this problem.

Jean had to do some sewing with Sarah so I went to Woolloongabba to check out the macerator pump that Whitworths had got in for me to look at. It turned out to be an inappropriate choice and the appropriate model would cost over $400 so I said thanks but no thanks.

With a planned $200 purchase off the agenda, I went in to the Apple centre and bought a copy of MystIII.
