Monday 13th
photo of the damage to the Motley

Up at sparrowfart to get to the panel shop in Beaudesert early.

We went into Beaudesert to do the laundry. By lunchtime all the chores were finished so, having decided that the mobile phone had to be replaced before we go "over the top", we tried to find the nearest Telstra shop. Their telephone help line can only tell you the address of a Telstra shop if you know the suburb it is in and the local telephone directory tells you to ring the telephone help line. What!.

Finally we found that the nearest place was in Broadbeach on the Gold Coast so we set off for there.

We bought a new Kyocera phone which, with the appropriate accessories, will totally replace the old one. The cable and data suite have to come by snail mail from Melbourne and the software will have to be downloaded from the US so we got a new number for the old phone so that we can use it for data connections while we get the new one to work. The old phone goes on the same account as the new one so there is no cost penalty incurred. One advantage of this is that we have free 3 minute calls between the two mobiles so the Motley and the Little Motley can stay in contact for no cost. Hooray for small benefits!.

When we got back the door had been fixed and only needs finish painting. Unhappily, they found damage to the vacuum tank and a new one has to be sent up from Melbourne. Mazda will air freight it to Brisbane so it may not hold us up.

The people at the panel shop have allowed us to park up in the yard with power and water so we were quite snug overnight.

photo of the new bullbar

We were up early to let the guys get at the truck. Todays bad news is that the bullbar isn't ready and probably;y won't be here till Thursday.

We shopped and then drove to Mudgeeraba to visit Sheree who has sold her house and will be on the road to Darwin at the end of June. Perhaps we'll catch up with them on the road somewhere.

The good news is that the vacuum tank is in Brisbane and should be here tomorrow. If all goes well from here on in we might get to Barcaldine on Sunday afternoon.

Wednesday15th

We veged out all day waiting for the job to finish.
