I had planned to camp up as close to Sydney as possible so I drove through Lithgow onto the Bells Line of Road.

The first part was quite exciting in the Motley as the hills are very, very steep and the road isn't very wide. The view is outstanding. I hadn't appreciated how much I had been missing the bush as in the east coast eucalyptus forest on our travels. Its nice to see all the other places but the environment one was born and brought up in is somehow more important than others I found the rest areas on the top of the escarpment to be not very pleasing so I dropped down the hill to Richmond and parked up in a carpark opposite the airfield. This is listed in Philip's book as an overnight camping spot though there is a "No camping" sign there. I experienced no problems and had a peaceful night.
