I had an another appointment with the physiotherapist so we returned to Lawnton.

There is much to do to get the Uncarved Women's new premises ready so we spent time doing what we could. Al has decided that the place will be called UWHO, Uncarved Women Head Office (pronounced Yoohoo). In the absence of any other suggestions, I guess that this name will stick.

All the computer and sound equipment needed was selected, purchased and installed. The Homeless Network donated a fish tank which will be stocked with fish selected by the children of the staff members.

The building work isn't finished but three rooms are ready for occupation and Sarah plans to move in next week to get away from the considerable problems of trying to run a business in the same space as the family use for all the domestic stuff.

I met one of Sarah's clients who is destined to become one of her staff. She came to Sarah's first session and accepted the offer of a free life coaching session. Her problem was that she was a housewife who saw herself as the least deserving member of her family to the point of not even spending money on going to the hairdresser. She had always had difficulty with reading and Centrelink had sent her to do office work as her work for the dole contribution. She found this to be profoundly difficult and this only reinforced her feelings of inadequacy. Sarah encouraged her to think of what she really wanted to do. She had done one year of a Yoga instructors course in England and Sarah had her research what she could do to follow up on that but there seemed to be no way available to her. Sarah suggested that she could do a fitness instructors course at the Australian Institute of Fitness where both Sarah and Ian had trained. She was so successful there that she has enrolled in the full diploma course and will graduate in September as a fully qualified fitness instructor and will be able to take up her work as a yoga instructor. The lady has been transformed in six months from a woman with no self-esteem not even worthy of a haircut to a person with a goal in life and the wherewithall to work towards it. Such transformations are the aim of Uncarved Women and here is a shining example.
