Sunday 27th Aug

I took a day off.

Monday 28th Aug

I spent most of the day working on the dump point database and sent the results to the guy who has taken over the job of fixing the list on the club website.

Tuesday 29th Aug

We went to Tamworth to shop. We bought paint for the bathroom and cloth to recover the dining chairs.

I went to Swans to find out what was happening about the shower screen and the young fellow asked me to show him on their showroom unit what the problem was. The viewing made me think about what we had received and I realised that there was something wrong. When we got home I checked again and found the missing pieces. They were all but invisible because they were fitted to the returns and there was almost no evidence that they were there. I rang Swans to tell them to cancel my request for the parts. Jean went to Weightwatchers for the third weekly meeting and was stunned when they announced that the Barraba meeting was closing down in two weeks.

Wednesday 30th Aug

I was woken very early by a knock on the door. Doug from next door had smelled gas and realised that there was a leak from one of my gas bottles. He shut the valve to stop the gas escaping and knocked to tell me what he had done. I thanked him and he went off to work. I got out the tools and the leak tester (a spray bottle with dishwashing liquid in water). The problem was easily fixed with a tightening up of the connection. Strangely, I had worried about a leak when I had changed over to a new bottle last weekend but there was no smell and I assumed it was OK. The leak might have developed sometime between then and now. I hope that we didn't lose a lot of gas at $110 per 45kg bottle.

I started the finish coat painting in the bathroom. It looks pretty good. Jean wants a Greek Key pattern on the wall to break up the large expanses of plain white so I'll have to devise a way of doing that.

Thursday 31st Aug

I had another easy day doing only simple chores..

In the evening, I had Lions Club Board meeting.

Friday 1st Sep

I took the Motley to Tamworth for a routine service. I left Barraba at half past eight. I went to Big W to get some stuff including a new VCR/DVD player. I also bought a 1Gb USB memory stick and some new clothes including a new Akubra. When I got home I asked Jean to select one of these things as my birthday present. She picked the USB memory stick to go with the 3D accelerometer data-logger which Rachel had sent from San Francisco, two beaut boy's toys for an old grey nerd.

I spent most of the day in the Homestead cafe having morning tea and lunch with a break in between in the park. The rest of the time I spent walking round the shops.

Saturday 2nd Sep

We had another Lions working bee on the shed. I did two and a half hours of hard labour preparing for the concreting of the pest resistant slab around the walls. felt like I had done a lot of work so I rested up for the rest of the day.
