We were up reasonably early. The morning mist cleared before we had breakfast. We did our trip prep and went up to the house to thank Evon and Peter for their hospitality.

We drove to Wyllie Park to dump the black water. I had planned to fill up the fresh water tanks but the Council had taken the hose adapter from the fresh water tap which had a non-standard thread so my adapters would not fit.

We drove to Chermside to see Telstra about my mobile phone which had gone on the blink. He young fellow opened it up and said "What's the matter with it?" It was working. I had tried many times since Friday to fire it up without any success but as soon as I handed it to a Telstra guy, it worked! While I was doing this, Jean went to the Vodaphone shop to get a "sock" for her new phone. They didn't have a sock but he did get a case which will stop the back falling off. We browsed the ABC Shop and Dymocks without finding much to interest us. We visited the Diabetes Australia shop to get supplies of test strips. We stopped at a little coffee bar well away from the noisy food court and had a bit of lunch.

I rang Al to enquire about the iBook. He said that the tech had got the CD out of the drive (he had to remove the drive from the machine). The computer had been on test all weekend without missing a beat and the tech has seen none of the faults I reported (they are intermittent). I agreed to take the computer back and see if it continues to exhibit the irregular faults or not. Al said he would take it home and I agreed to go to his place to pick it up.

On the way back to Petrie, we stopped at Strathpine Plaza to do a bit of shopping and to enquire of Telstra the status of the CDMA wireless modem upgrade. They told me that I would have to open a Bigpond account if I wanted to use the new Minimax orange modem which has a Macintosh driver ready (the blue modem which replaces the green modem I have been using does not yet have a Mac driver so i couldn't use it even if they could provide one. The Bigpond account would cost $5 a month more than I am paying now for the same download limit but would give me a free email account (which I need like hole in the head).

I drove to Nundah to pick up the iBook. When I got back to Wyllie Park I connected to the Internet using the iBook (I haven't been able to get the MacBook to connect using the Minimax wireless modem) and got the outstanding emails. It is comforting to know that the mobile works again and that the email works.
