My mother's great great grandmother was Esther Abrahams, a convict who came to Australia on the Lady Penrhyn. She was cared for on the voyage to Australia by Marine Lieutenant George Johnston because she had a newborn baby with her and he wanted to ensure their safety.

They settled in Sydney together and had seven children from January 1790 to July 1806.

The youngest was Blanche Johnston who married George Edward Nicholas Weston and had a daughter Isabella Weston.

She married Thomas Whyte Smith and had a dauhghter Isabella Stewart Smith.

She married Willian Beresford King and had a daughter Brenda Beresford King.

She married Kenneth Drummond Chalmers and had three children, my sister Barbara Williams (nee Chalmers), my brother Colin Chalmers, and me Robin Chalmers.

I spent 16 years in England, graduated from London University, and worked as an engineer in four organisations and married an English lady.

We had four children, two born in England before we migrated to Australia, and two born in Australia.

Three of of our children still live in Australia and our eldest daughter has two children, Kelly and Ross Marrett and our youngest daughter who lives in San Francisco has two daughters born there.
